I read online that there is a ferry that goes from Hato Rey to Old San Juan, which significantly cuts down on the amount of time it takes to get there, so I elected to go that route in order to explore the old city. The experience was similar to taking the train; go to station, wait for the ferry, the ride took about 15 minutes, and no smelly passengers because the gusting winds of the boat ride kindfully blew away the olid, odious body odor.
Upon arriving to shore you are greeted by a giant googely-eyed frog peering from atop a restaurant called
"Senor Frogs".
The buildings were enlivened by a rainbow of colors!
Typical street with cobblestone
Interestingly shaped buildings....
Cristobol Colon Plaza...
"Christopher Columbus Plaza"
Puerto Rican artwork amuses me...
Pidgeons!!!!!
Fountain celebrating 500 years since Columbus discovered Puerto Rico.
There was an art exhibit that compared similarities between the human body and nature. For instance, on the left side of the mural, a person was shown and whatever feature the artist wanted to emphasize would be shown, such as the cracks and lines on a person's face. Then the picture on the right was something in nature that had similar features. It was unbelievably amazing and I could have spent all day just observing the awesomeness!
Another one of the many statues around Old San Juan.
A giant totem!
Finally, I ate at a famous restaurant called "Raices". The inside was decorated in an island motif of all things past and present. The waitresses wore colonial type clothing and the other staff wore island-shirts and the cool, brimmed Puerto Rican hats.
More pictures to come.... The fort of El Morro!
